Dr Barbara-Ann Adelstein is a Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the Prince of Wales Clinical School, University of NSW (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. She is a medical practitioner with has a broad clinical background, a PhD in epidemiology and experience in medical education, and medical and health services research. She complements these with degrees and experience in management. She has extensive experience in research ethics: she chairs the Human Research Ethics Committee of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, and is a member of Research Ethics Executive Committee. She is also a member of the Bellberry Research Ethics Committee. Her interests include improving health outcomes, providing effective health care and using research expertise and evidence-based practice to improve clinical care. As a medical educator, she brings this wealth of experience and expertise to teaching medical students. She teaches in the Quality in Medicine Program discipline of the UNSW Medicine Program, and is the Phase 1 Medicine Clinical Skills Convenor at Prince of Wales Hospital. Her teaching has been recognised by the UNSW Medicine Faculty, being presented with “Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning Award” in 2017.
